E3 Blog!!

This unit has actually taught me a lot. Before we actually talked about this, I didn’t realize how much energy I was using and wasting. Well I knew what I was doing but I didn’t really see that what I was doing was so bad! I actually did listen to what was going on, but I don’t quite remember every little detail of what we learned, but some things did stick with me. I definitely was interested in learning about vampire energy because that was one thing that applied to me. I do leave my charger in the wall even if I’m not really using it. So I thought that was really interesting because before reading that article, I didn’t know that leaving my charger in the wall when it’s not charging my phone was actually wasting a lot of energy. I didn’t really think about it. Something else that I didn’t really pay attention to was the energy guide labels.  After we talked about that, I went home to do my laundry in my basement, turned around, and found an energy guide label in my basement! It was cool for me because before looking at it in class, I wouldn’t have even noticed that in my house! Energy Guide Labels are actually really important because it actually gives you an idea of how much energy you are actually using up in your house. I always wonder why my house is so cold in the winter time when all doors are closed and we don’t even open them and most of our doors are insulated. The only door that was not insulated was my back door (before we got the supplies to take home). I didn’t realize air actually leaked through the floors, walls, and ceilings I thought that was surprising just for the simple reason that I didn’t know that happened The rest of the things that we learned I didn’t really learn something new, because I had already knew about those things whether it was from hearing it in a previous science class, TV, or my parents. The things that I will change in my daily life now that I have learned these new things is to just try to save as  much energy that I can as possible. I will start taking my charger out of my wall in the morning before I go to school. As a child I always wanted my TV on because it was a comfort. Even if my mom would turn off my TV, I turn it back on. Maybe I could put sleep mode on my TV and that way it would turn off while I’m sleep! I will also look out for lights in my house to see if they are on for no reason, and then turn them off. I will even try to take fewer showers. I will even go to check to see what temperature my mom has the heat so that I can tell her to turn it down a tad bit! I want to do these things is my daily life because I do think that it was very important. I don’t even know what I would do if we ran out of energy. We would not be able to do anything easily! I know have a better understanding for why my mom gets so upset when I leave a light on or even my TV. Now that I have learned these things, I will share it with my family and friends because I think that it is very important and I do feel like people don’t even know they are wasting energy when they are! I think that people would be thankful because for one, we can save energy and it also will save people money! I feel like now when I become an adult and I live on my own and have a family, I will now be cautious about how much energy that I’ve been using and I will even try to install energy saving light bulbs, and make sure there is insulation for my doors and windows so that I don’t have to use my heating and cooling AC’s as much. I will also be able pass the knowledge down to my kids like 15 years from now!!
